So, here's my take on the classic rolling Palouse landscape from Steptoe Butte at sunset. It's not such an original spin on things - everyone on the hillside that evening was aiming for this barn! - but it's still so pretty that I had to get a shot. Unfortunately not all of my photos from that night are acceptably sharp - the ballhead on my tripod doesn't have a long enough / sturdy enough plate to hold a 70-200 lens steady in the winds up at Steptoe, and I hadn't quite found infinity with manual focus yet. (As of today I've solved both problems with some careful focus tests and a beautiful new pistol grip head - I knew after looking at the photos from that night I needed to make a change.) But I do like this one! Funny story, though - the next day as I was considering heading back to Steptoe and changed my mind en route to explore a deserted dirt road, I found myself driving by this very barn. How strange is that! I don't think I could have found this road if I'd been trying, so it was an interesting coincidence (it's Moore Road I believe, if anyone's interested). http://bit.ly/1sExmAm
