Jack's Soul by skylerhughes

On Friday night a good friend of mine and I made a last minute decision to backpack into Three Fingered Jack for the weekend. We didn't arrive to the trailhead until 9pm and decided to try and hike in the dark. (we've never been) Not sure if we were going the right way we ran into a couple on their way back to their car. We chatted for a bit and they sent us on the right direction. We hiked well on into the night and arrived at what we thought was the meadow at 12am. We started hiking up and up until we reached the crater where their was a lake. I've seen pictures of this before so I knew we had gone way to far, but I didn't know where the meadow was. As we started descending the mountain we found a flat area, but still didn't know where we were. Tired from it being so late we decided to call it good and crash until morning. Right before sunrise I woke up to find that we were in the right place merely 100ft from the meadow of flowers. I was greeted by 3 other photographers there. All who I've seen photos from so it was nice to put a face to the photographs. We all chatted for a bit and it was inspiring to here their passion for photography. Really great to here people with a dream because in this day and age you don't here that very often. The morning light was so so and the flowers were too. This trip wasn't about photography as it was for my soul. To get outside and find something new, meet people with this great passion, and spend some time with an old friend. During the day we explored the mountain, during the night we talked about whatever was on our mind. Including stupid songs we couldn't remember the lyrics too. Overall it was another trip to remember. PS we found a 30ft long snow cave. I was stoked as I've tried to find my own for sometime. No water was running through it, but still a great find. http://bit.ly/1tQIPho
