You may have forgotten about Live Photos, a newish iPhone feature that's only available on the 6S and 6S Plus.

When the Live Photos feature is turned on, the camera automatically captures the first 1.5 seconds before pressing the shutter and 1.5 seconds after it. It’s anti-FOMI (Fear of Missing It) technology.
