According to Fuji TV producer Osamu Nozaki, series creator Akira Toriyama is writing the story. The new anime will not acknowledge the events of Dragon Ball GT.
While Dragon Ball GT took place after Dragon Ball Z, it's considered non-canon as it did not adapt the original Akira Toriyama manga series.

Masako Nozawa, the original Japanese voice of Goku, Son Gohan, and Son Goten, will be reprising her roles.
She commented through a press release, "I hope that this series will last a long time and have the same impact around the world as its predecessor."
