Natalie McGriff hated her hair, so she and her mother decided to write a superhero comic about it to change her mind.
Meet Moxie Girl, the little girl superhero who gets her super powers from her multi-colored afro puffs.
"I decided to help Natalie write this book because she was having self-esteem issues regarding her hair and she hated to read," Nixon said in a statement.
In the crowdfunding site for the project, Nixon wrote that Griffith "is now seeking to encourage, uplift, and empower other young girls of color that may be suffering from low self-esteem by creating a children's book which transforms what many may see as flaws, into super powers."

Griffith designed and co-wrote the comic, while her mother helped out with the drawings.
